For this custom project, I wanted an animatronic centerpiece for the Stuff of Legends Gift Shop.  I found inspiration in the "Laffing Sal" automated characters created in the 1920s and 30s to attract people to attractions at America's Boardwalk amusement parks.  The mash-up of "Laffing Sal" and Legend's icon character Mr. Ashdown resulted in a modern version with the looks and evil laugh of the icon, right down to a matching costume, paired with the movement of the original inspiration.  This project was included on an episode of the Travel Channel's second season of "Making Monsters". A second, less sophisticated version was included inside the haunt as part of the "grave descent" scene.
